Scope
As part of the Deephams Upgrade Project, AMK required two thirds of the existing 60 year old plant to be refurbished so flows through it could be increased by 50%, allowing one third to be taken out of service. This then enabled the new plant to be constructed on the existing site.
GEL Involvement
GEL Engineering working for AMK and Thames Water had to survey and refurbish 66% of the existing plant which included but was not limited to;
- 2 Raw Sludge Pumping Stations (1cumec) Progressive Cavity and Centrifugal Pumps
- 2 Return Activated Sludge Pumping Stations (2 cumec) inclined Screw and centrifugal pumps
- 10 PST scraping bridges, associated inlet penstocks, sludge drain and valves
- 8 aeration tanks, airline pipe repairs, valve replacements, diffuser replacements and repairs
- 32 Final Settlement tank scraper bridges and associated valves, motors, weirs, telescopic bell mouth valves
- Removal of 10 fine screens
